Hello all my crafty friends. I have a few things to share with you! First an update on my weight loss. As some of you are aware, I had major surgery back in July of 2012. Gastric bypass to be more specific. I had set a goal for myself that I had wanted to lose 100 lbs. by my birthday in February. Well that didn't happen. So I reset the goal date for February 18th which was to be my 7 month anniversary after the surgery. I am pleased to say that when I woke on the morning of the 18th I weighed myself and found that I had lost 102 lbs! Mind blowing isn't it? Over 100 lbs. lost in just 7 short months! Doing the happy dance on that one for sure. I still have a ways to go...I still want to lose another 98 lbs. Maybe I should plan a little giveaway. More about that later as I will have to think up something.
My next bit of news is that on Friday we have Son #2 moving out. We are almost empty nesters as that makes 2 of our 3 children have moved out. Our daughter (for now) plans to stay with us and will be moving with us in the summer. We are hoping to find a house in the Niagara Falls, Ontario area. Can't wait.
Now on to the whole reason for my blog...to share my projects. This is Challenge #36 with Lia Stampz, and it's for a Child's Birthday. I have chosen to work with 2 of their stamps, one for a boy and one for a girl. The tag that I made for the little one year old girl is pretty self explanatory. I used a little gesso on a tag, attached some designer paper and lace. I did some fussy cutting and added some pearls and flowers along with ribbon tied through the tag. On the reverse I added the words 'to' and 'from' that were die cut using my cuttlebug. I ran my marker over the letters so that the colour would match my project and slipped the words through my Xyron so they would stick to the back of my tag. I simply coloured in my image, trimmed it close to the image but leaving a nice border of white around it and attached it to my tag. To add it in the front would've made it too busy however the back was so plain and I thought putting it there jazzed it up perfectly. I love the way it turned out.
The boy's rocket ship card had a bit more involved in it. I ran the image off 3 times. Once on white cardstock, once on light blue cardstock and once on a medium blue cardstock. The white and medium blue were the same size but the light blue was run as a smaller size. I fussy cut the rocket ship in all of the colours. I paper pieced it together. I thought it looked really cool with the paper that was a smaller size being used as an accent on the rocket ship. I also used silver gel pen to trace around different parts of the rocket ship but I don't think you can see that on the pictures. I've been trying my hand at quilling so I made 3 little circles to use at the base of the rocket ship. I thought they may have conveyed movement...I don't know...maybe it was just me. LOL. I pop dotted the rocket ship along with the sentiment up to give it more dimension. I'm not a great 'colourer' at this stage and I don't have a lot of Copics (I own maybe 10) so I've been experimenting with coloured pencils, paper piecing etc to get different looks with this digi images.
