There has been so much going on for me that it's been really tough to keep up. I am now the Coordinator of Volunteers at a wonderful place called Heartland Forest. They make so many things possible for so many groups; wheelchair accessibility for walks in the forest, programs for those with Autism, Downs etc. I am also heavily involved with the craft program for all groups. I have been busy testing and making up samples for their corporate Christmas parties, crafts for birthday parties and crafts for their upcoming Pumpkinfest event. This has pretty turned into being a full time job for me but I'm loving it!

October's design team project for ScrapN'Dipity was a card. I love these hippie girls so much that I decided to use them again this month. (I have so many projects in my mind where I can use them that I could probably use them every month.) This time I did a little water colouring as a base on my card. Here's my card, I hope you enjoy it.
I just love these hippie stamps that Alisha has designed. The faces are absolutely adorable on them. I have so many friends that like me are children of the '70's. I am planning to make up a large batch of birthday cards to keep on hand for these friends. More about that later. For September I decided to make a photo folio to house all of those '70's child pictures that I keep finding. I decided I should make something to house them all so they will stay together.

I watched so many YouTube tutorials on making these that I'm not even sure where the instructions came from. I had made the notes, recording the sizes but forgot to list who the tutorial came from. I want to say that it came from My Sister's Scrapper because I watch a great deal of her work.

I haven't placed any photos in it yet because I wanted to show off the really cool paper that I used. As soon as Alicia came out with Rose the Hippy I knew the paper that was going to be perfect. You can find the image to purchase here! As always, comments are welcome, I just ask that you be kind! Thanks for taking a look!
Calling all Halloween Fans out there! After taking a short break because of my knee replacement, I am happy to be back with the August Design Team Project for Scrap N' Dipity. Alisha has outdone herself with this one folks! She is offering this new image not only as a black and white download that you can colour for yourself but get this; she's also offering it coloured and ready to print! Some folks are amazing with their Copics and Spectrum Noirs. They have the blending down to a fine art. Several of our Design Team members are such people. Actually they probably all are. I am not. I have tried and sometimes the image comes out okay but mostly not.

So when Alisha offered this image pre coloured, of course I snapped it up. I printed this image off on a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of white cardstock. I actually had the image x 4 on the one sheet. I have used 3 and saved the 4th for another project that I had in mind. By using the pre coloured image I was able to make up 3 cards in the time it would've taken me to do 1 if I coloured it. The colours are all boldly vivid and it looks like I've done an excellent job with my colouring. It was so easy to make a card and have the image "pop." I made one for a friend who has a Halloween birthday, I made one as an invitation to a Halloween Party and one as a Happy Halloween card for a friend who loves Halloween more than Christmas! Can you imagine? LOL So instead of mailing her a Christmas card, I mail a Happy Halloween card. 3 cards in the time it takes to make one. If your colouring skills still need practice, there's no need to put your card making on hold until you think you perfect it. I will still be using my markers to practice but for now I have 3 cards that look good because of Alisha's image.

As if all of this wasn't incentive enough, here's one more. Alisha currently has this image on sale for only $1.00! Regular price $3.50. I'm horrible at math but I think that's like 70% off!
Two posts in one day!

Wow! 2 posts in one day. I'm trying to get caught back up after being off with my knee replacement. Here is another mini album that I made for a dear friend of mine. Her daughter had a beautiful baby boy in April. The nursery was decorated in The Lion King theme and I had hoped that I could do the same for the mini album. But it wasn't meant to be....there is no scrapbooking paper out there in that theme. At least nothing that I could find. So I picked up some paper in various animal prints and set about to make the mini album using those. I also picked up a Lion King storybook and cut out some of the pictures. I matted them on cardstock and used them for photo mats. There are plenty of flip outs and pockets to house tons of pictures of the gorgeous little addition to their family! As always your comments are welcome. I don't mind constructive criticism but please I just ask that you be kind.
I can't believe I haven't been here since May! I had a total knee replacement done on May 26 and it's taken me a while to recover and get back in the swing of things. Exercises became a full time job along with physiotherapy appointments and doctor's appointments. But I seem to be on the mend now. I am finally at the point where I can sit long enough to create something. Before it hurt too much to have my knee bent for such a long period. The physiotherapist that came to my house was excellent. She was kind but firm, showed me a ton of exercises to strengthen and to be able to bend that knee more and more. She was also full of tips and tricks that helped me a great deal. When she mentioned that she was getting married in November I thought that the perfect little thank you gift for her would be for me to make her a wedding mini album in her wedding colours. I am proud of the way it turned out. I really tried to watch a ton of YouTube videos to see how to do various flips, flaps, flops LOL! When I gave it to her, she told me she got goosebumps and that it was the most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given her. She kept hugging me and thanking me and telling me she would drop by to show me the filled out version once she had her wedding photos. Here are some pics showing the different pages in it. For the first time I tried to do Kathy Orta's Hidden Hinge system and I'm a little embarrassed to say that I mucked it up a little. It looked so easy! I used red line tape and maybe that was my mistake. I wanted it to hold like nothing else but the problem was when I tried to attach my page. I didn't get it quite down far enough before it stuck and I had a bugger of a time getting it back off again. I managed to stick it back down but not before I had a few choice words at my misfortune! I topped off the front with some handmade flowers. I finally got to use the flower shaping kit that I purchased from Heartfelt Creations and it worked beautifully! LOL As always, your comments are welcome, good or bad. Just be kind! Oh and if anyone has any hints about getting the page slipped onto the hinge all the way before it sticks, please let me know. I would really appreciate it!
Hello Everyone! I can't believe we're in the middle of May already. As I get older and older I'm finding that time is just flying by so quickly. So let's get right down to business.

I had a really tough time deciding which adorable image I wanted to use for the May challenge but finally went with the ballerina. It actually features 3 ballerinas but I decided to just focus on one for my card. My message of "Dance Like Nobody's Watching" is a reminder to myself to not get caught up in following the leader. This is especially true when it comes to my passion of card making and scrap booking. It's a reminder to stay true to what I like, as far as style goes, as far as supplies go.

I was in a craft store recently and spent about an hour looking at different supplies, checking out new items. I headed to the cash register and as I was laying my items on the counter I found myself asking "why are you buying that?" Was it just because it was a popular item that I was seeing a lot of people on YouTube using it or was it because I was truly interested in trying it out for myself. The answer was actually that I wanted it because I saw others using it. I put the item back. I decided then that I was going to change the way I make my purchases for my hobbies from then on. I decided to not just make things because others were making them but because it was something that I was interested in. So "Dance Like Nobody's Watching" means to me that I need to create as if no one is looking at it. Create what comes from the heart. So this lovely little ballerina is a reminder for me to do just that. If you would also like to get this image you can find her here.
Just a little side note. Some of you may already know how bad my knees have been, particularily the right one. The arthritis has finally worn me down, literally. It's bone on bone and the pain has been really bad. I have been told several times that they didn't want to do surgery because of my age. (I'm 55) However, I did see an orthopedic surgeon at the end of April and he has agreed to do the surgery for me. Surprisingly I was given a date for the surgery of May 26! That has given me one month to get everything done. Trust me when I say that EVERY single day has been busy for me. With that being said, I'm not exactly sure of when I will post again. It will all depend on how I'm feeling and whether I'm able to create. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers so that surgery will go well and that recovery will not be a brutal one. I will be back as soon as I can! Meanwhile, remember to "Dance Like Nobody's Watching!"

I don't like to waste paper. This all started a few years back when I started scrapbooking. I would happily add layers of various gorgeous scrapbooking papers to my layouts but I always ended up with bits and pieces of paper to beautiful to throw out. So I started making cards with the leftovers and found a new hobby that I was enjoying very much. The trouble was that even after making the cards I still had bits and pieces of that gorgeous paper left over, much tinier bits but still...I didn't want to throw those out either. So I ended up making gift cards, gift tags and even some tiny thank you cards for a friend who sells her crafting. She started handing out the tiny gems to anyone buying her goodies and it became a win/win situation. She was able to give a nice handmade thank you to her customers and I got to spread my name by using my stickers on the backs of her cards. So at Easter I had posted about using the leftover bits from my punches to decorate some Easter eggs for my cards. (Here's the link to that post if anyone would like to see what I did. Easter Eggs Post.
Recently I received an order for some cards that would have a Ladybug theme on them. I did have some Ladybug patterned paper left and used that but wanted to add a special touch onto the front of the cards. The person ordering just wanted the cards to be blank with no occasion or sentiments on them. I do have a Cricut as well as a cartridge that would've cut some Ladybugs out just using some red cardstock and black cardstock. But no.....I had to challenge myself. I was using a Martha Stewart punch to add a little decorative touch to separate the 2 different patterned papers when I noticed something. The "garbage" part from the punch included tiny round dots that instantly made me think of the polka dots on a Ladybug. Also there were some other pieces that made me think I could make an entire Ladybug from the negative pieces and I would just need a circle punch out. So I punched some circles from red cardstock. I started playing around with the garbage bits and came up with a cute little Ladybug that took it's place of honour on her cards. I think she's going to love them. I loved the challenge of once again making something from nothing. I think I'm going to make this a regular feature on here. Maybe once a month or so, I will see what I can make with stuff that otherwise would be garbage. As always, your comments are welcome!

I've been going through a number of baby cards as well as sympathy cards lately. Seems ironic doesn't it? I've also had a craft sale in the mix that I've been getting ready for. That always means a bit of a stressful time as I rush to not only keep up with obligations with classes both paid and volunteer but also personal orders for cards and mini albums and then trying to make lots of new cards for my craft shows. Generally it's birthday cards that I need to really try to keep up with but as I mentioned, lately it's been birth and sympathy. That is why for my Design Team project this month with Scrap N'Dipity I chose to double up and make a couple of cards instead of just one. I chose this image of an absolutely adorable bear flying a kite and it's appropriately named "Lil Bear Fly a Kite.) Perfect opportunity to make one to welcome a baby girl and one to welcome a baby boy.
I'd love to invite you to join us for our April Challenge at Scrap N'Dipity. It's "Anything Goes" which is my favourite! Just follow the instructions given in the above link. You can enter once with any other image but you can enter TWICE if you're using an image from Scrap N'Dipity! I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
I've been wanting to learn how to water colour for the longest time. I love the soft look it presents, especially with flowers. I decided to take a couple of classes at my LSS (local scrapbooking store.) First we explored watercolours by using basic cardstock backgrounds but doing some water colouring on stamped items. For the stamps we used Tim Holtz Crazy Birds which were a lot of fun. We used Ken Oliver's Color Bursts for our water color pigment. Here are the cards that we made during those two classes. I love the way they turned out and I will be adding both the Color Bursts and Tim Holtz stamps to my wish list so that I can experiment some more on my own. Enjoy! (Oh and yes I realize that it's almost April and I have a Valentine's card in the bunch but that's what the store was offering.) As always, your feedback is appreciated; please leave a comment letting me know whether you enjoyed these or even if you didn't. :)
Are you like me? Do you have boxes and boxes of scrap pieces of paper that you just can't bear to get rid of because you just know that you can do SOMETHING with them, no matter how small? I am very serious when I say that I probably have a full Rubbermaid large tub full of scraps! I decided to try and attack my pile and see what I could do with it. I was having a couple of days where I just couldn't seem to get myself in gear. No creativity. Zip. Gone. What I usually do when that happens is I clean up my crafting area(s). LOL It's all over the house! I clean up, I purge and I discover old papers that I'd forgotten about. That helps to get the juices going again. Anyway, the other day I was going through my scrap piles and seeing all of these tiny bits that really didn't look like they were good for much of anything. I had pieces of paper that I had used as edging, trimmed it down to fit the card and then kept the bits that I cut off! LOL Little itty bitty pieces that were maybe an inch long!

I mean seriously! Throw it out. But I just couldn't. The scraps weren't even the worst of it. You know when you die cut stuff and you end up with those little bits of paper?

Yeah those! I had a whole pile of them in the scrap box and was just about to throw them out when I thought of something. Easter is coming and I've been wanting to make some cards but just didn't feel like stamping or hunting for Easter paper. I'll be honest, my craft room right now is in shambles and I can't seem to get my act together. I'm trying to fit 10 gallons of craft supplies into a 1 gallon container!

Eureka! I've got it. I spend a couple of days just vegging in front of the tv and gluing and cutting bits and pieces together. I brought out my small punches and just sat and punched, punched and punched. Here's what I made from those scraps and die cut bits and pieces.

These were truly a lot of fun to make up. I loved trying to see how many different patterns I could come up with on the eggs and how many flowers I could do that were unique. I think I will keep doing this my stash of scraps and have a ready stash of ready to go flowers. Feel free to use up your stash and share on here! I'd love to see them.
I am so happy to share that I have been asked to join the Design Team of Scrap N' Dipity! There are so many adorable images that the only problem I have with the website is choosing which one to use!
Our oldest son has moved back home for a short time and with him came his cat Betty. We also had a cat named Mr. Kitty so it has been quite the job, full time I might add, to get these 2 beautiful creatures used to each other. So for this reason I thought it was fitting to start my first Design Team Post with the image of the adorable cat!
I was also trying to decide which medium I wanted to use and thought that since I'm new on the DT I should also try something new. I had purchased some chalks some time ago and hadn't used them yet at all. I went through 3 of the images before I settled on one that I thought did the kitty justice.
With my failing memory I thought it would be a good idea to make up a notepad for myself where I could keep track of the different projects that I'm working on and when they are due. I used a simple composition notebook and covered it with cardstock. I also made a little pocket on the inside front cover in case I wanted to slip something in so I wouldn't have to go hunting for it. I then used DCWV's The Tradewinds matstack to pretty up the front. I made up some flowers using some of my hand punches with different shapes. The leaves were also hand punched out of cardstock and The Tradewinds matstack again. I used my Martha Stewart punch to get the letters for the front cover.
This project came together very quickly and was so much fun to play around with the image. I am looking forward to making many more adorable projects using the images over at Scrap N' Dipity. Click here for Scrap N' Dipity website. Do yourself a favour and check the wonderful images that Alisha has to offer. I bet you can't settle on just one! Here is my project! I hope you like it and as always, your comments are welcome!
I was commissioned in the summer to make some wedding cards. I was given colours and subject matter and from there was allowed to take off and sail with them. That was fun but also a little scary because I didn't know the people they were being made for. A wedding is such an important event and you want to make sure you get it right for them. Well I guess I got it right because they loved them! Once I got going on the special order cards I couldn't stop. I thought it might be a good way to stock up on them since I didn't have any on hand. I hope you enjoy seeing the cards as much as I enjoyed making them.

I made this into a shaker card; my very first one! I'm happy with the way it turned out.

I love this one with the embossed golden seashells. This one needed a special envelope to handle all of the dimension.

I made about 6 different variations of each of the following cards. I used the same papers with different embellishments and sentiments.
Wow I can't believe we're into February! I haven't been on here since July. I got a job back in July and of course my crafting time went way down. It's been a few years since I've worked full time and I don't mind telling you that this ole girl was wicked tired! This job was at an inbound call center and if you've never worked in a call center...well let's just say it was not fun at all. For every one person that I was able to help, there were 10 people phoning in and screaming at me for something that was their fault to begin with. Ok enough...I quit the job at the end of October. Between getting ready for Christmas and sending out a plethora of resumes, I was limited on crafting time yet again and I wasn't happy about it. So now I am going to attempt to get caught up by posting a variety of things that I did manage to make while working but never took the time to post pics and blog about them. The first thing is a min album/birthday book that I made for my niece's 30th birthday in August.

I've got another Mini Album to show you but I also have to tell you that this post is packed with a lot of photographs! I have to tell you that I am so very proud of how this came out. I have been checking countless YouTube videos and tutorials to be able to put together a Mini Album that actually comes out nicely. I generally use the paper that I've already got on hand, but not my good stuff. I hoard that. Until now that is. I have unlocked the 'vault' and have begun using all of those paper pads that previously just sat there. I've been watching all of Shellie Geigle's videos lately and tried what I thought would be the easiest; Learn to Make a Mini Album. She talks you through every detail of the book. She talks slowly enough that you don't need to pause the video hundreds of times but not slow enough that it puts you to sleep. LOL What I did was watch the video first, took some notes, made sure I had any necessary measurements written down and just got a feel for what I was going to be doing. There were 3 videos to making this Mini. Here are the links to Shellie's Videos.

I don't know whether she will see this or not but I wanted to say thank you to Shellie. Finally I have made a Mini Album that looks like it was put together by an adult. LOL Also I just happened to have the exact same paper pad that Shellie was using. I just used mine in a different order. The paper will make all the difference folks. I believe it now. Speaking of paper, Shellie has designed her own paper pad that was introduced just recently. It's on my wish list but I seriously need to get rid of some of the paper I have now before I buy any more. Take a look, I've included the link on where you can buy it. It's called Tranquil Gardens and it's just beautiful!

As you may remember I entered a card in June (no layout)in the DCWV Stackaholic Challenge. My card made it into the Top 10! I always get so excited when a layout or card that I've made is chosen.
Here's the card;

I wanted to post some pictures of the latest mini album that I had completed and I thought I would glance through at the older ones that I had made. I couldn't find them on my blog anywhere. Could it be possible that I never posted them? I had meant to and somehow forgotten? That is entirely possible! Too much on the brain. LOL I thought I would just try and catch up and post the old ones first. This is one that I had made for a dear friend of mine, Karen. When Karen and I first met, she had surprised me with this huge box of crafting goodies (I was stunned, didn't expect anything) as well as this absolutely stunning mini album that she made for me. I was speechless as I turned it over and over in my hands, looking at all of the details she worked so hard on. It was just beautiful. So I had promised Karen that I would make her one as well. Well it took me months and months before I had one ready for Karen. I started several times and ended up starting over because I wasn't happy with the results. Finally after several months I had it finished and I was actually quite pleased with the way it looked. Here are the photos of the mini that I made for Karen; CardsbyMarianne.blogspt.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10111631386641088911noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376976771219586604.post-26587558881845353932015-07-07T16:01:00.001-04:002015-07-07T16:01:52.437-04:00Wedding Layout for Anniversary Month

There's just never enough hours in the day are there? LOL I seem to have the best of intentions to get certain things done but stuff happens to get in the way that I never even imagined. July is our anniversary month and I always like to try and do a few layouts for my scrapbook using our wedding photos from way back way. Hard to believe that we got married back in July of 1983, some 32 years ago. Even harder to believe that we've been together for 37 years. I will try to make a few more layouts this month if possible but in the meantime I hope you enjoy this one.

June has just whizzed by and I haven't accomplished half of what I wanted to. I had several challenges that I wanted to enter. I managed to get a card done for DCWV's Scrapaholic Card Challenge for June but sadly not the layout challenge. I used "The Pet Stack" for this card which came together rather quickly. Base card of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. I cut a piece of the "checked/striped" pattern measuring 5 1/2 x 2. The paper with the dogs measures 5 1/2 x 2 1/2. I cut a small strip of black cardstock for the seam measuring 5 1/2 x 1/2. I cut a piece of blue cardstock measuring approximately 3 x 2 1/2 and just started taking off small amounts until it fit the picture the way that I wanted. I printed 'Ruff Day?' on the bottom and adhered it to the top right corner with the speech bubble directed at one of the dogs. I used black and white baker's twine and strung it across the top of the card. I used rolled up glue dots to attach it. I fussy cut tiny dog bones from one of the papers in the collection and also used glue dots to attach them to the baker's twine. Done. I hope you enjoyed my card. CardsbyMarianne.blogspt.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10111631386641088911noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1376976771219586604.post-79691572383098812742015-06-28T07:00:00.000-04:002015-06-28T13:16:50.058-04:00You're Invited to a Bridal Shower Tea Party!
I was honoured to be asked to make the bridal shower invitations for my daughter's best friend who is getting married in August. I was given free reign and knew that I wanted them to be just perfect. The only thing that I had to include was that it was a tea party themed event. I started looking through my piles and piles of stamps, acrylics, wood mounted, red rubber, my CTMH ones. Holy smokes! I seriously didn't realize just how many stamps I own until I started looking for the perfect one.
I managed to get them done in plenty of time. Here's a shot showing them all waiting to be delivered.

Here's a shot of the front. The cards were made from an ivory/buff coloured cardstock. (Not sure of the brand, it was just something that was in my stash.) The ivory cardstock pieces measured 5" by 11 3/4" and were scored at 3 7/8", 8 1/8". I had used Sizzix Stamp &Die-cut set to stamp the teapot and coordinating flowers. I then used the dies from the set to cut out the teapots and flowers.

Pink vellum paper was dry embossed with the Swiss Dot embossing folder by Cuttlebug. I made a little cardstock banner that was embossed with a Tim Holtz Distress embossing powder (tattered rose) and heated with a heat gun. The pink vellum was attached to the ivory coloured cardstock cards.
Here's a shot of the inside showing the pockets to house the little cards that had all of her information on them. One card listed the shower information; date, time, where etc. The other little card had her registry information on it. I thought it would work well if the guests were able to just slip the little card into their wallet so that when they went shopping they could just get out the card and all of the gifts registered could be pulled up with just one number.

This the shower card that I made for her. Keeping with the tea party theme, this also has a tea cup on it. I stamped, die cut and then embossed with gold before pop dotting the tea cup onto the card. The little "tea bag" slipped into the tea cup says "For Your Bridal Shower."

If any of you are wondering if I've finished doing the switch with the craft room...I am still working on it. Who knew it was going to take this long? I thought it was going to be relatively easy, bring the stuff upstairs, put away what I want and give away/sell/throw away the rest. It didn't work out to be quite that easy. It hasn't been terribly easy to part with anything. I want to keep it all and yet I don't. I want to start fresh. I just want the supplies that I'm going to use and not the ones that I will stare at for months or in some cases years thinking "one day I will make such and such with that."
I think, and it really scares me to say this but I think I might just be showing hoarding tendencies. Not in the rest of my house. Pffftt...if it hasn't been used in a couple of months....it's gone...outta here! But my crafting supplies....oh but they're different. Some have been with me for years. Some are older than my firstborn. I kid you not. In my mind I justify it by saying "oh but one day you're going to make such and such out of that."
I have been hoarding, there I said it, yes hoarding scraps of paper. When we moved here to this house I actually had the movers carry about 4 large cardboard boxes and 2 Rubbermaid tubs of scrap paper because I couldn't bare to part with them. I've decided that the scraps must go if I'm going to get on with things. I've advertised here in my area that if anyone is just starting out scrapbooking, if anyone is on a tight budget or if anyone will have children to entertain over the summer holidays, I will have boxes of scraps for them. Some of these scraps are not really scraps at all. Some are 8 1/2 x 11 with a single heart punched out and that's it. I've set up several boxes and I've been getting rid of the scraps as fast as I can.
I hope this will speed things along and that I'll be done enough with the room that I can take pictures and post them. I've been somewhat comforted all these years being surrounded by these little treasures. I hope that I'm nipping the hoarder thing in the bud by saying goodbye and getting it out of the house. I honestly think I have enough scraps that it will keep several craft rooms busy for months when they get them. I will update again soon.
Ok on to a happier post. I submitted another layout for the DCWV Scrapaholic Layout Challenge for May. They've posted that they are a little behind right now in the judging and the posting of the new challenge for June. I can wait. This is a layout that I put together showing my Godparents. My Godfather passed away well over 10 years ago now. I've lost touch with my Godmother but I think I should do whatever I can to find her and get back in touch with her. They were 2 of the sweetest people that I can remember growing up. They will both always have a special place in my heart. Here is the sketch that I used and then the layout that I designed using the sketch.

LOL

I was reading this very interesting article called "The Psychology Behind Messy Rooms: Why The Most Creative People Flourish In Clutter" Here is a link to the article in case you'd like to read it.
I felt like they were talking to/about me. I do like things to be organized and put away in their proper place but......when it comes to my scrapbooking, card making and all other crafts it's a different story.
As I work I begin to grab supplies that may or may not end up in the finished project. Oh wait I have a piece of ribbon that will go perfectly with this so I go and get it. Then I think of something else that I might have in my stash that will work so I go and get that as well. Out of this mess will develop what I think is a really pretty card or a cool layout. Most people would tend to clean up the work space once the project is finished but it works differently for me.
When I have all these wonderful crafting supplies strewn all about in front of me, I tend to have a million different ideas running through my head for my next projects. I believe, that is when I make my best cards. That's when I use scraps from this and combine them with scraps from something else. Whenever you see me display a large group of cards at once that is generally what has happened. These are just a few of those occasions.

I have had to learn to just 'go with the flow' as they say when my workspace starts looking like a bomb went off. I try to use it to my advantage, using up those yummy bits and pieces of paper and ribbon that are small but just too pretty to throw away.
Just to show you what I mean, here are some pics of my last craft room at our old house. I had taken over the formal dining room as my craft room and you can see that it got quite ugly at times.

When we moved and I was able to take over the entire basement as my craft room I thought things would change. I thought that with this much space it would be all neat and tidy like we see in those craft magazines or all of the shots on Pinterest. LOL As if!
Now will come the biggest challenge of all. I have decided to move my craft room upstairs into a tiny bedroom that is approximately 9 x 9. It's just too cold for me to work in the basement so this makes the most sense. However, I need to decide from my approximately 700 square foot basement craft room what I can comfortably fit into the new small space. I will need to purge like I've never purged before. Sell some stuff, donate some stuff and some will just need to be stored in the basement. I will take pics of the before and after space. Watch for that project to begin in weeks to come. I need to take down wallpaper and paint the guest room before I begin moving into it. Sorry about the long post. I sort of combined 2 posts into one. Have a wonderful day! It sure is beautiful here in Southern Ontario today. The sun is out, the birds are chirping and it finally feels like a beautiful spring day!

LOL

So my craft room was down in my basement. All 700 square feet just for me and my crafty supplies. This was one of the reasons we bought the house so I wouldn't be sprawled across the dining room table anymore. The only problem is that we've been in this house for 2 years now and I've noticed how cold the basement is all the time. I tried running a space heater in the winter but the problem was that I had to have it running 24 hours a day to keep the room reasonably comfortable. That equaled huge electric bills so I couldn't do that. I tried dressing in many layers but my fingers would freeze! Anyway my daughter has been complaining that she's always hot upstairs and that we have our heat turned up too high. (It's set for 72 so I think that's pretty standard.) So we decided we would do a room switcheroo. She gets the huge space down in the basement and I will take her room. So I've been at it for the last 3 days, bringing up bags and boxes of all sorts of craft supplies that I even forgot I had. Now comes the problem; trying to find spots for all of it. I have so much paper, 12 x 12's, 8 x 8's, 6 x 6's, Mat Stacks, Loose sheets, Kits of paper! Holy Moly....where did it all come from? Here are a few pictures of my craft room and what I've got done so far. I will post again when I have more done or have it finished.

I'm on top of the world! I have been chosen once again in the Top 10 Layouts for the DCWV April Stackaholic Challenge. The pictures that I used in the layout were ones that my brother had photographed. He likes to spend his free time photographing nature, animals, abandoned buildings and anything else of interest. Whenever I see these photographs of abandoned houses they always make we wonder "What's the story?" So many of them have furniture inside still. How is it that a house has a family living in it, one minute calling it home and the next standing abandoned? I decided to make a layout with these beautiful photos. I was also fortunate enough to be chosen as a random winner from DCWV. My prize will be sent out next week!

Hi Folks! I'm back again a day later as promised. Today I wanted to share with you some really great news that I am so proud of! Once again I entered the DCWV Stackaholic Challenge for March. I made a layout and a card and was thinking that I'd be thrilled if either one was to win the honour of being chosen in the Top 10. Guess what? They both made it into the Top 10. I am thrilled beyond words. Here is the link showing all of the Top 10 for both cards and layouts. What a great job everyone! Congrats to all!
This is my layout.
I have truly been so busy these few weeks that I haven't had much time to post on here. So my blog is feeling a little neglected. I need to catch up so over the next week I will try and put up a new post every day and hopefully that gets me up to date. A little while ago I posted some pics of tags that I made while taking some classes at my LSS. (Local Scrapbooking Store) They have such fun and interesting things to do and I can't get enough. I made the decision to give up selling Close To My Heart as it just never really took for me the way I had hoped. Maybe this was just not the right time or maybe it just wasn't meant to be. It will also free up a little bit more money for me to take classes and buy other supplies online and from my LSS. Here are some more cards that I made during another class. I think they came out beautifully. See you back here tomorrow!
