Die Cuts With a View (aka DCWV) runs a monthly challenge on their blog called Stack-a-holic challenge. As with everything else I always see the invitation to participate and say to myself "Self you should enter. Could be fun and you never know, maybe one of your creations will be picked and shown on the blog for countless paper fans to see." Life gets in the way or I forget about it until it's too late. Not this past month! I saw the first announcement and immediately printed off the sketches for both the scrapbooking layout and for the card. My family doesn't understand what I am about to tell you but YOU, my sweet paper crafting friends will totally get this. I have a lot of paper, yes I will agree. BUT as I am really just starting out with this potentially expensive hobby, I tend to buy clearance goods. I don't know the supplies are going to like working with and what I hope to never use again. So I buy clearance. With a lot of the paper and other scrapbooking supply companies, they encourage you to enter their challenges but want you to use just released merchandise. DCWV doesn't stipulate that it needs to be brand new, although I'm sure they would like to see it but don't make it mandatory. I love that.
So off I went to create something lovely using DCWV paper. The majority of the paper stacks that I own are DCWV which also means that is the company that I am luckily able to find on sale. I chose to use Nana's Kids, a favourite of mine. I also just happened to be working on a mini album using the same paper stack and will post pictures of it when I'm finished.
I just happened to be looking through the blog at DCWV and came across the winners for the March Stack-a-holic challenge and saw my card. I think my heart may have sped up as I could feel my excitement grow. Not only was my card featured but a random drawing was held with all of the people who entered the challenge and DING DING DING I saw my name again. So I have won some gorgeous DCWV paper and if it's some of the new releases I will be able to enter the next challenge with brand new paper! Here's my card that was featured and below is a link to the DCWV blog showing the other challenge winners as well as mine. So excited! Mine is the 8th card featured. Scroll about 3/4 of the way down.
