Surgery Update and Some New Cards

Surgery was a month ago...can you believe it?  They say time flies when you're having fun, only problem is that I don't remember having any.  LOL
Everything went well.  I have been on a pureed diet for the last couple of weeks.  It's been really tough to cook a beautiful chicken breast and then have to put it in the blender.  However the good part is that I've pretty much tolerated everything that I've eaten so far.  I haven't been sick at all but have noticed that some things sit better in my tummy than others.  I really have to work on getting enough water and more protein.  It's not such an easy thing to do because of the way my schedule is.  I can't drink for 30 minutes before or after meals.  Meals generally take me about one and a half hours to finish.  Quite often I'm just not hungry and I almost feel like I'm forcing myself to eat just to stay on schedule.  Anyway enough about that, I'm sure it will all get sorted soon enough.  Long story short; I've lost 41 lbs so far.  Yay me!

I have managed to make a few new cards.  I'm quite happy with them but I'm definitely not happy with my photography skills.  Every picture I take I've noticed that the card looks better in person.  There's detail, essence and a personality to the cards in person and it isn't being picked up by the camera.  I have tried fiddling around on different settings but nothing helps.  I'm almost embarrassed to put these pictures on my Etsy site because they are so bad but for now it's all I've got.

Someone did suggest that I visit a camera shop and see about purchasing an hour or two worth of lessons.  I'll have to look into that.  Oh and I did manage to do a few things while I was in the hotel after being released from the hospital but not a lot.  I really don't even have any totally finished product to show you.  I guess I wasn't quite as 'up' to working on cards/bookmarks as I thought I would be.

Great cards! Thanks for shaing I find that when I turn off the flash on my camera it takes a better picture especially if you have enough light around where you are taking the picture.

Thanks Marilyn! I will definitely try that. Someone also suggested taking them during the day which I have not done. It seems that I do all my work late at night and then take pictures when I'm done so I guess I will wait till the next day and try the pics then!
Thanks for your help and for checking out my blog!

Thanks Monica! I would definitely like to try some of the challenges and will be looking into those. Right now, we are also in the process of getting our house ready to sell so that is consuming so much of my time. I plan to start doing challenges and maybe even try entering some cards to some of the magazines after we move and get settled into our new house.

Thanks Marilyn. I have been playing around with the different settings to see what will work. Turning the flash off is one of them. Will post some pics of new cards very soon. Hopefully they look better than the ones I've been posting.

Thanks Karon. My husband made me a light box as well but I still haven't been able to get it right. There seems to always be a "yellowy" shadow behind the cards. I've been playing around the the settings on my camera and hopefully that will work. Thanks for your kind words about my cards. I appreciate the support!
